Red Sox win Against Cardinals Capture World Series Title

The Red Sox won a championship in front of a huge home crowd for the first time since 1918! John Lackey helped the Boston Red Sox beat the St. Louis Cardinals 6-1 in Game 6 of the World Series on Wednesday night at Fenway Park.

Red Sox Takes Game 1 rout Cardinals

The Boston Red Sox routed St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series opener 8-1. Mike Napoli hit a three-run double right in the first inning, Jon Lester made sure no runs while striking out eight in 7 2/3 innings.

"He's been doing it all year," said Mike Napoli. "He's a big time pitcher. We have all the confidence in the world when he's out there throwing the baseball."

David Ortiz was not able to hit a grand slam because of Carlos Beltran,  he catch the ball but it sent him straight to hospital with bruised ribs. Beltran is day to day after X-rays were negative. Big Papi later hit a two-run homer following third baseman David Freese's bad throw.

Game 2 will be played Thursday night, rookie sensation Michael Wacha 22 will be starting for St. Louis against John Lackey. Wacha is 3-0 with a 0.43 ERA this postseason.

St. Louis Cardinals defeated Los Angeles Dodgers 9-0 advance to the 2013 World Series

ST. LOUIS — For 16 summers and four Octobers, Carlos Beltran is finally going to his first World Series with his fine hitting and defense.

Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw melts, as their defense unable to make a play and their hitting has gone cold.

Matt Carpenter help lead the Cardinals back to the World Series he lined a double to right field. Then Carlos Beltran followed with another huge hit in a four-run third inning that stunned Kershaw. Michael Wacha was a machine he out-pitched Kershaw for the second time this series. St. Louis Cardinals advanced to its second World Series in three seasons by overwhelming 9-0 win against Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series on Friday night.

Cardinals beat Pirates 7-2, now tied at NL Central lead

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Right-hander Joe Kelly allowed four hits over six solid innings to win his fourth straight start and the Cardinals moved back into a tie for first place in the NL Central with a 7-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday.

Kelly (7-3) walked two and struck out five while remaining unbeaten since being moved to the starting rotation full-time in July.

Kelly received plenty of help from an offense that snapped out of a three-game funk by tagging Pittsburgh spot starter Kris Johnson (0-2).

Matt Holliday and David Freese drove in two runs apiece while Matt Carpenter, Allen Craig, Yadier Molina and Shane Robinson added two hits each for the St. Louis Cardinals.
