WWE on their website announces that James Hellwig or better known as "The Ultimate Warrior" has died at the age of 54. He died on April 8, 2014 four days after being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
"WWE is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE Superstars ever, The Ultimate Warrior," WWE said on its website.
The cause of death has not been released. His career started in 1987 with the World Wrestling Federation (now known as WWE) from 1987 to 1991. He returned in 1992 and 1996, and was involve with the World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1998.
His career highlight was his battle with Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania VI, where he defeated the Hulkster to become a WWE champion.
"We are grateful that just days ago, Warrior had the opportunity to take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame and was also able to appear at WrestleMania 30 and Monday Night Raw to address his legions of fans."
Hellwig was survived by his wife Dana and his two daughters.
