The San Diego Padres selected the Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel in the 28th round of the Major League Baseball draft last Saturday. Though he was included in the Texas A&M as a shortstop he has not played since he is more interested in football. He had not played baseball since high school.
Johnny Manziel Tweeted:
"Big thank you to the @Padres and @padresmikedee for selecting me in the MLB draft," "What a great day!"
Mike Dee, president and CEO of the Padres replied: "Best athlete on the board... #JohnnyBaseball."
Johnny Manziel was the first freshman to take home the Heisman Trophy back in 2012. The Cleveland Browns took him in as their 22nd overall pick in the NFL draft last month. He played two sports when he was at Tivy High School in Kerrville, Texas, namely baseball and football.
