Russell Westbrook More Likely To End Up in Boston

Russell Westbrook, Boston Celtics

According to Bleacher Report’s Howard Beck, the Boston Celtics are inching closer in getting Oklahoma City Thunder star point guard Russell Westbrook and it is his most likely destination.

“What I’m hearing here in Las Vegas from some GMs is that they think not only Russell Westbrook will get traded, that it’ll be sooner than later,” Beck said in a video posted Wednesday morning, “and that the most likely destination now would be the Boston Celtics.”

Westbrook averaged 23.5 points and 10.4 assists last season, in what was the most efficient year of his thus far tremendous career.

Point Guard Westbrook out, torn meniscus

Point Guard Westbrook out, torn meniscus, Russell Westbrook, injury, OKC, OKC thunders

The All-Star point guard of the Oklahoma City Thunder Russell Westbrook will undergoe surgery to repair cartilage in his right knee and be out indefinitely. This will be a huge blow to the championship hopes of the Thunders.

Sam Presti the General manager of the ballclub said that they have not yet scheduled Westbrook's surgery and have no accurate timeline for his return.

"We're not trying to rush him or bring him back ahead of schedule. We want to make sure he's healthy and his knee is right, That's our only concern with it right now. We have to come together as a team and worry about the basketball. All he has to worry about is him getting healthy" Durant said.

Russell hurt his knee in Game 2 against Houston Rockets last Wednesday when Rookie Patrick Beverly lunged for a steal and his hip collided with Westbrook's knee.

"Anyone who knows me knows I don't go out there and try to hurt anybody. I play at one speed and that's fast. I was just trying to make a play on the ball before they called a timeout and it's just unfortunate," Beverley said.

''Our team as a whole, we've got a resilient group of guys, a lot of character within that locker room and a group that enjoys playing together and has been through some adversities over the last several years that they've been together. We'd expect them to adjust, come together and have different guys step in and play well collectively,'' Presti said.

Game 3 will be this Saturday night in Houston. Westbrook averaged 24 points and seven assists in the first two games, both won by top-seeded Oklahoma City.

NBA West and East Finals are Set!

The San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder have simply rolled through this postseason. There's the 18-game winning streak that has the Spurs flirting with history. Seventeen combined playoff games and just one loss. The Thunder sending home the last two NBA champions, and no other playoff teams besides these two that can boast a series sweep.

The matchup of Russell Westbrook vs Tony Parker is very interesting.

Heat-Celtics in East finals

It's a rematch: Miami and Boston will meet in the playoffs again, this time with a spot in the NBA finals at stake.

Boston's 85-75 win in Game 7 over Philadelphia on Saturday night earned the Celtics a trip to Miami, where the reigning East champion Heat will host Game 1 of this year's conference title series Monday night.

Boston took the regular-season series from Miami 3-1, though the last of those meetings was in the final game of the season and came on a night where LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh all sat out for Miami, while Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen got the evening off for Boston.

The lineups will look more normal Monday, though Bosh will remain sidelined because of a strained lower abdominal muscle.

It'll be a quick turnaround for Boston, with Game 1 in Miami starting about 46 hours after Game 7 against the 76ers ended. The Heat finished off their East semifinal series against Indiana on Thursday night, took Friday off and held a light practice Saturday - focusing on themselves and not starting to work in details either the Celtics or the 76ers.
